It’s Never Too Late is an inspiring story of one man who was raised in a Christian family and became a believer but lost his faith and wandered through mid-life without faith in God. The author is extremely transparent about his years in the business world as an agnostic and about the forces of evil that caused him to turn his back on God. The book reveals his look back when he sees the many times God sought his attention through various circumstances, yet he continued to be too busy to listen. One day a humorous yet serious simple one page article brought him to a halt in his busyness and made him once again think about God. (See page 63 of the book.)
Although he was still not ready to make a change in his lifestyle, the author continued to think about God and his own demise, occasionally attending church. Then one day his Creator arranged circumstances that brought him back to his faith and to seek God’s forgiveness.
In the Christian life, it is not how one starts out that is the most important but rather how one finishes. I have found that God will go to great lengths to bring those who are willing to a successful finish.
As you read my story, I pray that you will reflect upon your own life. Whether you are in the spring, summer, fall, or winter of your life, it is my prayer that you will make the right decision in answering the most important question ever asked any human being. That question is one that must be answered. You will either believe or not believe. Jesus asked that question of Peter: “But what about you? Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15 NIV). Then, like Peter, I pray you will answer, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God (v.16).”
For once you have reached the end of your journey on earth, your choice will stand. If you fail to choose Christ, it will be eternally too late. That is the one truly unpardonable sin. However, if you have answered that all important question as Peter did, then I pray that my story will challenge you to a closer walk with Christ. I pray that you will seek to follow His teachings and be a “letter from Christ…written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on human hearts” (2 Corinthians 3:3 NIV).
For just as I have found, as long as you have breath, it’s never too late for anyone to come to faith in Jesus Christ and to work in His vineyard. God will reward you justly and richly, as in the parable.
